Baby Loves Summer
Baby Loves Summer!
Karen Katz
Summary:
Baby Loves Summer! is an adorable book about a baby in a pink dotted bathing suit. The book starts off with a question wondering what baby will see during summer time. Instead of telling the baby what will be found, the baby has to lift the flaps to explore and see what can be found. For example when baby is curious as to what is behind the towel, the baby has to lift the towel up to see what it is.
On every page of the book, there is the baby on the left side all curios as to what can be found. On the right side of the page, is a fun interactive flap for the baby to participate in.
Pros:
- Board book
- Life the flap book
- Educational
- Helps babies guess and remember
- Interactive
- Fun illustrations
Cons:
- The flaps are not immune to heavy baby wear and tear. I ended up gluing it with rubber cement and placing clear tape on top for extra security.
Suggestions:
- Baby Loves Summer! can be used to help encourage patience. As you are reading this book to your child, hold the book at a distance so they can see but not touch. After you read the short sentence, bring the book close to the child so he can lift the flap.
- If your childs language is more developed, have your child try to guess what is under the flap. After your child guesses, let them lift the flap and see if they are correct. You can then begin to discuss what is under the flap and turn it into a conversation. For example when they find the sun, you can talk about how it helps plants grow.
Age Range:
- 1 - 4
Bottom Line:
Baby Loves Summer! is a really great book to add to your childs collection. It is not only fun and interactive, but it is written from the point of view of a child. The sentences are short and easy to understand. Your child will have a lot of fun being read to while interacting with the book.
